The book is divided into three parts, in each of which the author explores a different type of food: industrial, organic, harvested or hunted.
The first part of the book highlights the industrial food system, pointing out that almost all of the food we eat nowadays comes from large corporations. The author sheds light on how unhealthy and sustainable industrial food is.
In the second part Pollan exploresorganic farming, taking the reader to a farm that specializes in sustainable agriculture. The author explains how important it is to know where our food comes from and how important it is to support small, local producers. Pollan wants to emphasize how much healthier it is for both us and the environment to choose organic food.
In the last part of the book, the author plunges us into the world of plant collecting, here he recounts his experience, and tries to make us reflect on the connection, now lost, that we had with nature.
In this book Micheal Pollan invites us to be more conscious with respect to the food choices we make.
