SYDIC stands for SYstem Dynamics Italian Chapter, the Italian Chapter of theInternational System Dynamics Society.
SYDIC was conceived in late 1995 when a small group of academics and practitioners of simulation methodology and techniques based precisely on the “Systems Dynamics” approach have decided to pool their experiences in the field and propose to the System Dynamics Society (SDS, the International Society for System Dynamics) the establishment of an Italian Chapter (Italian Chapter). SYDIC is a cultural association of social promotion, not for profit, which aims to disseminate the fundamentals and teachings of Systems Thinking and System Dynamics in Italy and abroad, in the public and private sectors.
Systems Thinking – Systemic Thinking – is a thinking approach aimed at considering reality in its holistic complexity, in its myriad facets, each of which is closely related to the others. Systems Thinking is “the art of seeing the forest instead of individual trees” the art of studying complexity as a whole.
System Dynamics is a methodology for computer modeling and simulation of complex systems to make the behaviors over time of conceptual models developed through Systems Thinking concrete and measurable.
