(Founder & CEO Symbiosis)
Symbiosis was created by NeoruraleHub, a company founded in 2018, in the footsteps of an environmental regeneration experiment started in 1995 and followed by more than 20 years of R&D projects.
The experiment and projects enabled a new approach to the study of nature’s behavior that led to the development of a business model that had focus on the entire agribusiness supply chain to responsibly employ natural resources-energy, water, materials, and soil-in agriculture, industrial processes, and waste utilization, serving industries, cities, and landowners.
In April 2022, Simbiosi Srl was established, thanks in part to Tamburi Investment Partners joining the company, consolidating the technologies created by NeoruraleHub and bringing to market a new approach for cities, industries and landowners focused on the following goals: optimizing the use of resources and materials, decreasing the amount of CO2 emitted, recovering resources from waste and producing energy from innovative renewable resources, and finally combating climate change, thus providing resilience to the critical areas of the planet of the future. A new economic, social and environmental paradigm that takes solutions adopted from nature and applies them to productive contexts.
Symbiosis is based in Giussago in the province of Pavia at theInnovation Center Giulio Natta, an area, redesigned by nature and technology, of more than 2,000 hectares and a reference place for start-ups, scale-ups and innovative business projects for experimentation, pilot installations, events and co-working spaces, where the same projects can be integrated within the Symbiosis model in a circular perspective. This vision makes Symbiosis the first Producer of the Environment® and the first NBS Valley®, (Nature Based Solutions), capable of responding to the needs of the territory and the Agrifood supply chain that today wishes to continue to progress, but safeguarding the planet and living conditions.
Symbiosis is divided into the following divisions:
- Tech – active on industrial districts, in processing and process chains, focusing primarily on agrifood:
- Farm-active in the agritech supply chain:
- Renewables-active in the development of Innovative Renewable Sources;
- Innovation Center – active in the field of Open Innovation and Venture Capital.
Symbiosis is the partner for industries, cities, and landowners to design and implement transformation into “virtuous districts” referred to as Smart Districts and Smart Lands, depending on whether they are processing industries, municipalities, and farmers where the focus is on increasing productivity and decreasing consumption of natural resources and energy for a sustainable solution.
Smart Land: transforming the urban periphery and land into a service center for neighboring cities, people and the environment through environmental regeneration, renewable energy production and the reactivation of the circular economy.
Smart District: the declination of Smart Lands in industrial realities. Redesigning the industry both internally, through a holistic path of efficiency and recovery of waste in the production process, and externally, through the environmental regeneration of the context in which it is located and the reactivation of the circular economy, all to the benefit of the economy, people and neighboring cities.
To continue to develop innovation and to keep abreast of developments in technologies on the target supply chain, Simbiosi has developed an in-house Venture Builder and Venture Capital, where its own expertise and that of incubated companies can merge together, for an optimal, always up-to-date vision and solution of the complete solutions that Neorurale offers to the agrifood supply chain, financing and then owning in return equity of the best innovative companies in the agrifood field.
An aggregator therefore of solutions and technologies, able to provide specialized advice and tailor implementation of solutions and systems, for the best specific approach, designed on the needs of each individual customer for the sustainability of the entire supply chain. Smart Districts and Smart Lands leverage innovation to increase overall system efficiency, all through the following principles and objectives: Overall solutions for reducing consumption of water, gas, materials, and electricity in businesses, utilities, and production processes and agricultural practices.
Innovations to combat climate change by developing regenerated areas through stimulating biodiversity and increasing soil fertility with the help of remote sensing and environmental Block Chains, thereby increasing CO2 storage.
Waste from industrial supply chains is used to recover valuable materials, produce biostimulants, soil conditioners, natural fertilizers, increase soil organic matter and produce energy.
Water becomes thermal value and is also used to optimize energy use and water consumption itself.
The landscape is recreated according to natural principles, becoming a productive factor for agricultural activity and a lung of biodiversity for districts and cities.
Soil and landscape management makes it possible to grow healthier food without the use of insecticides and reducing the consumption of natural resources.
