Podcast description
Revolución Circular is the first Spanish-language podcast dedicated to the circular economy and the fourth industrial revolution, created and hosted by Petar Ostojic, entrepreneur, engineer and international speaker. Ostojic is recognized as the leading promoter of the circular economy in Latin America, listed by Forbes Chile among the “30 Sustainable Minds of Chile” and selected by LinkedIn as Top Voice in the sustainability category for Latin America.
Through engaging conversations, the podcast explores how the principles of the circular economy-eliminating waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, regenerating natural systems-can be applied to transform industries, communities and everyday life.
Each episode addresses different topics such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, industry 4.0, food systems, and technological innovation, bridging global trends and local actions.
Petar brings together experts, entrepreneurs and policy makers, who share concrete examples and success stories, making complex concepts accessible and actionable. Special attention is given to the connection between food, sustainability and the circular economy, with the understanding that “there is an urgent need for climate action starting with the food sector: as urban populations and average incomes grow, so do emissions related to agriculture, food production and transportation, as well as waste. The necessary changes must focus fully on consumption habits and waste management” (ECLAC, 2021).
With a specific focus onLatin America, Revolución Circular highlights regional challenges and opportunities, showing how the circular economy can foster economic growth, social inclusion and environmental resilience in an era marked by climate crisis and resource scarcity.
Episode Description.
In the episode “Chile Huerta: Huertos Urbanos y Economía Circular,” Petar Ostojic meets Tomás Lasnibat, co-founder of Chile Huerta, a transformative project born in Chile that combines urban agriculture, agroecology and food sovereignty. Tomás talks about the origin and evolution of this initiative, which was born together with his partner Michelle, with the goal of reconnecting with nature through self-sufficiency, education and respect for the ecosystem.
During the conversation, the courageous choice to abandon traditional jobs to build a self-sufficient home where they can live in harmony with the environment and promote food sovereignty from their family garden emerges. Through workshops, trainings and digital content, the project teaches how to grow organic food, create seed banks, compost and adopt a more conscious lifestyle.
Tomás emphasizes that farming is not just about producing food, but represents a personal and social transformation that strengthens health, a sense of community, and a connection to the earth. Listeners discover concrete methods related to the circular economy: from composting household waste to preserving seeds to applying permaculture techniques even in urban spaces. These practices close nutrient cycles, reduce household food waste, and improve soil quality even in small spaces.
Today, in addition to selling organic trees, plants and seeds, Chile Huerta offers gardening accessories, consultations, books and classes, with an increasing focus on education and community involvement. Looking to the future, Tomás envisions the creation of a self-sustaining community as a replicable model to expand the project’s impact far beyond the family garden.
The episode demonstrates how urban gardeners and ordinary citizens can play a key role in advancing the circular economy and caring for the environment from the bottom up.
