Cold is a great ally of food security and enemy of waste (Umberto Veronesi Foundation, 2015). In fact, the refrigerator is designed to safely store food and increase its durability. What not everyone knows is that each food item must be arranged in the right shelf, since the temperature within it is not spread evenly. The lowest shelf is usually the coldest, where meat, fish, and raw foods should be stored. In the drawer the temperature is quite high, and this is where fruits and vegetables should be stored. In the center area of the refrigerator arrange already cooked foods along with cold cuts, sauces, cooked vegetables, dairy products and cheeses. In the top shelf will go canned goods and eggs, which should not be put in the side door since they would undergo significant temperature changes when we open the refrigerator. In the side door, on the other hand, mainly products that need light refrigeration, such as chocolate, sauces and juices, should be placed (Altroconsumo, 2020).
