By recounting the complex biological processes and natural laws concerning agriculture, the book shows how plants can develop mechanisms for healing and defense from human and other agents, and are able to pass them on to future generations. This can therefore be a great lesson in how those who care for plants and their protection can treat crops.
With the idea of immunization, plants are monitored for positive or negative selections by some nursery teams. For example, resistance to pathogens, moisture and other imbalance and drought factors are evaluated, as involves mass selection, which is the selection of certain plants within the same variety with the goal of maintaining maximum genetic variability.
The result is to have plants with different physiological and productive characteristics: from water stress resistance, disease resistance, ripening period, to fruit size and characteristics. Specifically, the novelty of immunization is the idea that the plant can access internal resources by entering“recovery” (disappearance of symptomatology and vegetative and productive recovery), and that this information can be contained in heritability genes. This technique involvesobserving each plant from year to year, and its behavior in relation to climate and pathogens.
In conclusion, plant immunization promotes intraspecific biodiversity and the idea that the plant community in the orchard or vineyard can be supported by the individual contributions of individual plants, which-when carefully observed by humans-can carry and retain information for the evolution and future of the field.
