Scenario
Education and training are critical to understanding and implementing sustainable change. First, it provides the knowledge needed to understand the complex interactions between the environment, economy and society and to help people recognize the impact their actions have on the planet. Sustainability education also includes the promotion of critical and creative thinking, which is essential for developing innovative solutions to environmental problems. In addition, education makes individuals aware of sustainable behaviors such as reducing waste, using resources responsibly, and respecting biodiversity. When people are informed and aware, they are more willing to change their habits and lifestyles to actively contribute to environmental protection. Finally, sustainability education can instill a sense of collective responsibility, encourage active community participation, and support public policies that promote a more sustainable future. In sum, education is the key to turning awareness into action and building a more sustainable world for future generations.
Description
ecoACTIVE is an environmental education charity working to build resilient and responsible communities. Its mission is to use a hands-on approach to the study of sustainability to empower youth and communities to become agents of change for a better planet. ecoACTIVE organizes interactive and exciting workshops in schools, parks and community gardens, following the principle “Think Global, Think Global.” “Act Local” addresses global problems through local action.
Based on the values of clarity, change, reflection, professionalism, inclusiveness, passion and positivity, ecoACTIVE communicates clearly, promoting sustainability and actively engaging people. The community can get involved through social media and volunteering, participating in workshops, and supporting the organization.
The activities carried out by the organization specifically are:
- For schools:
- Ecological workshops: workshops for primary and secondary schools that motivate young people to become agents of change and show them how small changes can have a big impact.
- Forest School: offers a hands-on educational experience where children can learn directly from nature.
- Green Influencer: support for youth in developing and implementing social action projects in their local communities.
- Environmental education at “The Leaside Trust“: through stimulating and informative sessions that will inspire sustainability. Located on the Lea River and overlooking the wetlands of Walthamstow, they collaborate with “The Leaside Trust” to offer a comprehensive environmental education experience in Hackney.
- Community garden: community gardeners work with new and existing gardens in Hackney and Newham, helping residents develop skills to manage their urban green spaces.
In addition, the organization provides information about the global environmental crisis and personal role in it, and helps assess the impact on individuals and communities.
It provides tools to change behavior and reduce carbon emissions, as well as provides actionable plans to transform those who participate from being part of the problem to being part of the solution.
