Scenario
Globally, agricultural production relies for its major part on chemically synthesized products that are used in a wide variety of ways. Among them, pesticides are plant protection products whose use is widely used around the world. Against this backdrop, Antofénol presents itself as an innovative company capable of changing the paradigm in favor of a greener future. Starting with waste from vineyard processing and wine production there is the production of bio pesticides, which can also be produced on an industrial scale by extracting other compounds from other plants. Globally, an annual production from pruning alone has been estimated at 42 million tons of plant waste from vines. These numbers indicate how the technologies developed by the Antofénol company may be able to develop a production process of effective biopesticides, and more, on an industrial scale.
Description
Antofènol is a start-up founded in France with the goal of improving the production of agricultural plant protection products, particularly pesticides. Using the new technique of extraction from plant materials, the company has set the goal of being able to replace chemically synthesized products with only naturally extracted compounds from plant materials. In this way there is no longer a need to use solvents and other substances.
Antofénol has developed an innovative hyperfrequency eco-extraction process that enables rapid industrial-scale production of natural compounds by eliminating the need for chemical solvents. Their products are suitable for the agricultural, cosmetic and food sectors. The technology developed by Antofénol combines the use of hyperfrequency waves, fermentation and vacuum in a single process. Hyperfrequency waves are placed directly on plant materials generating molecular agitation: The purpose is to heat the cell nucleus thus improving theefficiency and naturalness of the process without thus needing other compounds
Fermentation is used to homogenize temperature gradients and increasing the exchange surfaces between the material and its extraction medium. Finally, a vacuum is used to protect oxygen-sensitive molecules and thus to prevent oxidation. Antofénol’s solutions take advantage of plants’ natural defense systems to create effective and healthy biocontrol products, such as the natural antifungal Antoferine. This product, made from by-products not used by vineyards, offers protection from pre- and post-harvest diseases, replacing chemical antifungals and reducing losses for farmers.
The approval dossier for Antoferine is underway and commercialization is planned for 2026. Antofénol continues to conduct research and development to create eco-designed and sustainable products that meet the needs of the agricultural sector, using their eco-extraction technology.
